Past Simple with Regular verbs (Düzenli Fiillerle Geçmiş Zaman Cümle Oluşturma)

 

We use the past simple to talk about:

  • actions that finished in the past (Başlangıç, oluş ve bitiş olarak tamamen geçmişte kalan eylem veya durumlar hakkında konuşmak için kullanılır.
  • things that happened yesterday, last week, last year, two hours ago, etc.

Örnek:
I watched TV yesterday.

Past Simple – Geçmiş Zaman’da düzenli fiillerle cümle kurmak için fiilin sonuna -d, -ed veya -ied eklerinden biri eklenir.

Düzenli fiillerin şekil olarak Past Simple formlarının oluşturulması:

Fiillerin çoğu -ed eki alır:

  • work → worked
  • play → played
  • start → started
  • work → worked
  • point → pointed
  • paint → painted
  • mark → marked
  • finish → finished
  • walk → walked

Sonu -e harfi ile biten fiillerde sadece -d harfi eklenir:

  • live → lived
  • like → liked
  • move → moved
  • love → loved
  • arrive → arrived
  • close → closed
  • smile → smiled
  • hope → hoped
  • decide → decided

Sonu, “sessiz harf + y” şeklinde biten fiillerde, “y” harfi silinir ve önce “-i” sonra “-ed” eki eklenir:

  • study → studied
  • carry → carried
  • cry → cried
  • try → carried

Sonu, “sesli harf + y” şeklinde biten fiillerde, “y” harfi silinmez ve sadece “-ed” eki eklenir:

  • play → played
  • stay → stayed
  • enjoy → enjoyed
  • pray → prayed
  • obey → obeyed
  • destroy → destroyed
  • employ → employed
  •

Positive Sentences (olumlu cümleler)

Subject/Özne + verb(-d, -ed veya -ied)

  • I played table tennis yesterday. (Dün masa tenisi oynadım.)
  • She visited her grandparents last month. (Geçen ay büyükannesi ve büyükbabasını ziyaret etti.)
  • They studied Turkish Literature at the university. (Üniversitede Türk Edebiyatı öğrenimi gördüler.

Negative Sentences (olumsuz cümleler)

Subject/Özne did not (didn’t) + verb/fiilin yalın şekli

  • I didn’t play baseball yesterday evening. (Dün akşam bezybol oynamadım.)
  • He didn’t watch cartoon on TV last week. (Geçen hafta çizgi film izlemedi.)

Questions (soru cümlesi)

Did + subject/özne + verb/fiilin yalın şekli?

  • Did you play table tennis last weekend? (Geçtiğimiz haftasonu masa tenisi oynadın mı?)
  • Did she visit her relatives last summer? (Geçtiğimiz yaz akrabalarını ziyaret etti mi?)

Short answers/kısa cevaplar:

  • Yes, subjet pronoun/öznel zamir did.
  • No, subjet pronoun/öznel zamir didn’t.

Time Expressions/zaman ifadeleri (En sık kullanılanlar)

  • yesterday / dün
  • last / geçen, geçtiğimiz                      last night / last week / last year
  • ago / önce                                          two days ago / ten years ago

Mehmet’s new car

Yesterday, a man named Mehmet bought a new car. He wanted a car for a long time, so he saved money every month. In the morning, he went to a car shop near his home. He looked at many cars and talked to the salesperson. The salesperson showed him different models and explained the prices.

After some time, Mehmet chose an black SUV car. Its brand was TOGG. He liked its color and size. He signed the papers and paid for the car. When he got the keys, he felt very happy. He drove the car slowly and followed the traffic rules.

In the morning, he bought some baklava for his parents and friends. In the afternoon, Mehmet visited his parents and showed them the new car. They smiled and said kind words to him. In the evening, he parked the car in front of his house and cleaned it. He ended the day tired but happy because he reached his dream.
