Have to, Must, Should

 

"Have to", "must" ve "should" İngilizce'de zorunluluk, gereklilik ve öneri bildiren yardımcı fiillerdir (modals). Ancak aralarında anlam ve kullanım açısından bazı önemli farklar vardır. İşte açıklamalar ve örnek cümleler:

 

1. HAVE TO

Anlamı:

• Zorunluluk / mecburiyet bildirir.
• Dışsal bir zorunluluk (yani bir kural, yasa, otorite tarafından belirlenmiş bir mecburiyet).

Cümlede kullanım:

• Present Simple: I, You, We, They have to + verb + object.
•                            He, She, It has to + verb + object.

Örnekler:

• We have to wear a uniform at school.
  (Okulda üniforma giymek zorundayız.)
• I don’t have to go to school tomorrow because it’s official holiday.

(Yarın okula gitmek zorunda değilim çünkü resmî tatil.)

• She has to finish the report till Friday.
  (Raporu, Cuma gününe kadar bitirmesi gerekiyor.)
• She doesn’t have to pay any money because it’s free.

(Para ödemek zorunda değil çünkü bedava.)

2. MUST

Anlamı:

• Güçlü bir zorunluluk ya da kişisel sorumluluk belirtir.
• Genellikle konuşanın kendi düşüncesine dayalıdır.

Cümlede kullanım:

• Present Simple: I, You, We, They, He, She, It  + must + verb + object.

(“Must” kullanımı tüm öznel zamirler için aynıdır.)

Örnekler:

• You must study hard to be the best at school.
  (Okulda en iyi olmak için çok çalışmalısın.)
• I must call my mom.
  (Annemi aramalıyım.)

 

“Have to” ve “Must” farklılığı

Örnek:

• (Yasa gereği) You have to wear a helmet.  (Kask giymek zorundasın.)
• (Kendi fikri) You must wear a helmet. It's dangerous without one.  (Kask giymelisin. Giymemen tehlikeli olur.)

 

3. SHOULD

Anlamı:

• Tavsiye / öneri / beklenti bildirir.
• Zorunluluk kadar güçlü değildir.

Cümlede kullanım:

• “must” kullanımında olduğu gibi, tüm öznelerle kullanım aynıdır: should + V1 + object.

Örnekler:

• You should drink more water.
  (Daha fazla su içmelisin.)
• She should study harder for the exam.
  (Sınav için daha çok çalışmalı.)
• They should be home by now.
  (Şu an evde olmalılar.) → beklenti ifadesi
