How much / How many
"How much" ve "how many" miktar ve sayı sormak için kullanılan ve iki kelimeden oluşan soru ifadeleridirler.
How much:
- Kullanım: "How much" sayılamayan maddelerin miktarını sormak için kullanılır.
- Örnekler:
- "How much water is in the bottle?" “Şişede ne kadar su var?”
- "How much money do you need?" “Ne kadar paraya ihtiyacın var?”
- "How much sugar should I add?" “Ne kadar şeker ilave etmeliyim?”
How many:
- Kullanım: "How many" soru ifadesi, sayılabilen isimlerin miktarını veya sayısını sormak için kullanılır ve “How many” den hemen sonra “çoğul” olarak yer alır.
- Örnekler:
- "How many apples are in the basket?" “Sepette kaç (tane) elma var?”
- "How many friends do you have?" “Kaç (tane) arkadaşın var?”
- "How many books did you read?" “Kaç (tane) kitap okudun?”

- One sunny morning, Hatice decided to visit the local market in Uskudar. She wanted to buy fresh fruits and vegetables for the week. As she walked through the colourful stalls, she noticed a fruit vendor selling strawberries. Excited, she approached and asked, “How much are the strawberries?” The vendor smiled and replied, “They are 3 Liras per kilo.”
- Next, Hatice wandered over to a vegetable stand. She saw beautiful green peppers and wondered how many she should buy. “How many peppers do you have?” she asked the vendor. He replied, “I have ten peppers in total. You can take as many as you like!”
- After choosing four peppers, Hatice continued her shopping. At the bakery, the smell of fresh bread was irresistible. “How much for a loaf of bread?” she inquired. The baker said, “It’s 2 Liras for one loaf.” Hatice decided to buy two loaves.
- As she headed home, Hatice felt happy. She had learned to ask the right questions about how much and how many, making her shopping trip fun and successful. With her basket full of delicious food, she couldn't wait to prepare a wonderful meal!
